How much does it cost to charge an electric car (October 2026)
The ESB network tells where the charging points are, how powerful they are and what each band costs. Here are the charging points of 440 charging points out of 440. Updated on 26 October 2026.
Typical price by charging point type
| Type | With price | Minimum | Typical |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alternating current (AC) | 299 | €0.52/kWh | €0.52/kWh |
| Direct current (DC) under 100 kW | 77 | €0.57/kWh | €0.57/kWh |
| Ultrafast (HPC) from 100 kW | 64 | €0.57/kWh | €0.59/kWh |
The national registry publishes no prices: the values below are power and availability, not tariffs.
Example: with a consumption of 16 kWh per 100 km, a 40 kWh charge (about 250 km) costs around €21 at a typical-priced AC charging point (€0.52/kWh) and €23 at a fast DC one (€0.57/kWh). The cheapest 10% of AC charging points cost at most €0.52/kWh: the same charge drops to €21.
